5-23-08 to 5-26-08: Yellowstone Nat'l Park

Adam and I spent Memorial Day weekend in Yellowstone National Park - only about 9 hours from Lewiston and well worth the drive. We met up with our friends Eryn and Joe from Woodland Park, Colorado, and spent most of our time exploring the park and looking for wildlife. We were not disappointed! We had originally planned to camp, but with highs only in the mid-40s and large snow drifts through out the park (including our campground!), we bagged the camping plans at the last minute and headed to the Grant Village Lodge. Worked out great.

One of the four bears we saw (no grizzlies thank goodness!)

My favorite attraction was the buffalo roaming all over the park. Here's a herd with lots of baby buffalo.

View of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone from Artist's Point.

Two moose we spotted thanks to Adam.

A big herd of elk we came across as we entered the park from West Yellowstone, Montana.

Eryn and Joe at the Tower Falls.

Classic view of Old Faithful (unfortunately from down wind...)

Itchy buffalo...

5-17-08 to 5-19-08: O'Hara Creek Camping

Our first camping trip of the season was our annual trip to O'Hara Creek with Mary, Debbie, Joe, Angie, Gina, Clinton, Kari and Kirah. O'Hara Creek Campground is in the Nez Perce National Forest on the Selway River, a few miles outside of the tiny town of Lowell, Idaho (only about 2 hours from Lewiston).

We had a great time despite regular visits from the camp host and forest rangers predicting that the rivers would flood and leave us stranded. Can't think of a better place to be stranded!

Here's a picture of the Selway River looking into the wilderness area.

This was Biscuit's first camping adventure. Here he is enjoying the campsite from inside his home away from home.

It was also our niece Kirah's first camping trip. She had a great time running all over the campsites in her walker, which did pretty well at off-roading.

Here she is giving Biscuit a snack.

5-14-08: Salmon Fishing

Since coming to Idaho, Adam's Uncle Bob and his Grandpa Larry have become my fishing buddies (i.e., letting me tag along and sponge off of their fishing know-how). This past weekend, Bob took me out for my first try at salmon fishing. After about 5 hours on the river and no bites, we gave up and went home. It was still a good day and all, just nothing to show for it.

Well, Bob went out again yesterday when I was busy in the office and look what he caught...

I will have to go try my luck again soon!

5-4-08: Home movies of Biscuit

Lisa suggested this as a good way to share movies pictures and movies with family and friends. We'll see if it works...

First, look and see how good Biscuit is at sitting.

Next, look and see Biscuit's favorite new "toy" (which he has since loved a little too much and chewed apart, oops!)

Last, check out Biscuit playing with Adam.

Enjoy! More to come later...
